One may ask, “Why is it necessary to counsel people from a biblical perspective?”  The answer to this important question is that the world and all its people are filled with sin, confusion, lies, and suffering.  From a biblical perspective, the Word of God is the authoritative truth to the mental and emotional imbalances occurring in individual hearts and minds.

The integration of spiritual concepts into a therapy session can be helpful if the client makes a request for this type of therapy to be included.  Therapy can include an integration of biblical concepts and Spiritual psychology (who/what we are, what our struggles are, how we heal, how we change, what is our purpose, etc.).  Since God is the creator of all things, understanding His design for us and the manner in which we should live is paramount.  Biblical counseling begins by examining Scriptures to help us gain insight into the confusion in our lives and point us in the way to a more fulfilling life.  Jesus Himself stated, “I came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly.” NSAB, 2022. 

The Word of God should be the first priority in seeking answers for life’s difficult issues.  Biblical counseling entreats the client to process life’s circumstances and challenges using the Word as the strainer, producing repentance, healing, and wholeness.
